The Institute for Methods Innovation is delivering a training programme on policy engagement, funded under the Research Ireland Discover Programme. This training will focus on the research-policy interface and is designed to enhance the engagement capacity of the Irish research community. Researchers will learn to navigate the Irish policy environment, present research in policy-relevant terms, employ a responsible and ethical approach, and identify impactful intervention points.

Attendance is free to eligible participants. You do not need policy experience to be eligible to apply. However, you’ll need to meet both of these requirements:

  • You’re a researcher at postdoctoral level or higher (at any postdoctoral career stage).
  • You’re based at an Irish higher education institution or a recognised independent research organisation.

The programme consists of a comprehensive self-paced online training course on policy engagement and 8 half-day live virtual training sessions taking place from the week commencing 8th September to the week commencing 6th October 2025. Attending the full training course is encouraged where feasible, however, it is possible to attend only part of the training programme.

Entry to the programme is competitive, and an application is required. Deadline for applications is 6th June 2025. Please complete the online registration form for full consideration to join the training programme.
