Project Summary
Taiscéalaí 3.0 is a continuation of proven 3D printing and STEM education into a national digital education initiative that supports Irish primary teachers in embedding STEM and design thinking into everyday classroom learning through inclusive, curriculum-linked content. Delivered by Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR), in collaboration with Creative Spark, Inspire 3D, and I-Form, the programme represents a cross-sector collaboration focused on building sustainable, high-quality STEM education across Ireland.
This next phase builds on three successful years of in-person delivery, where schools received 3D printers, physical toolkits, and teacher support. Taiscéalaí 3.0 adapts that approach into a flexible, digital-first model that removes logistical barriers and scales access, particularly for rural and DEIS schools.
Launching in early 2026, the programme offers:
- Teacher Induction & Training: A two-part experience including a live online session (2–3 hours) and one in-person technical training day led by Inspire 3D to ensure teachers are confident using the 3D printer and digital tools
- Curriculum-Integrated Modules: Five multimedia units designed to align with topics already taught in the Irish primary curriculum. Based on the original Taiscéalaí teacher guidebook and student handbook, they integrate 3D design and problem-solving into subjects like Maths, SESE, and Visual Arts
- Mentorship & Resources: Ongoing support, lesson plans, tutorials, and classroom-ready activities
- National Student Competition: A celebration of creativity and learning through a student project showcase
Aligned with Ireland’s 2026 curriculum reform, Taiscéalaí 3.0 aims to enable teachers, inspire students, and foster greater public engagement with STEM through hands-on, meaningful learning experiences.
