Project Summary

We are inspiring community based action for sustainable futures, starting by engaging with members of the public to gather ideas or issues related to sustainable futures that they are passionate about or have experienced personally.

Following this, the project will conduct workshops to help community groups link these ideas and issues to STEAM-based solutions, identifying practical ways for communities to create a more sustainable future. The (4-hour) workshops will employ the LEGO Serious Play Real Time Strategy methodology. This hands-on, minds-on approach fosters creative thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. Using LEGO bricks as a medium, participants will draw connections between their everyday lives and roles within the community to the ideas and issues discussed and links to STEAM. Through guided facilitation, this process develops simple guiding principles for taking actionable steps towards enhancing sustainability within the community. By engaging in this interactive and playful manner, participants will enhance their understanding of how STEAM is intrinsically linked to creating a sustainable future.

This interactive and playful methodology encourages open dialogue, reflection, and the development of a shared understanding of how STEAM can drive actions toward sustainable futures. The primary objectives are to co-create STEAM-based solutions with community groups, empower participants with strategic thinking skills, and promote broader inclusion in STEM. The solutions and practical actions generated during the workshops will be documented and published in the form of a digital booklet. This project aims to inspire communities to take actionable steps towards sustainability by leveraging the power of STEAM!
