If any provision of these terms is determined by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unenforceable in whole or in part, the validity and the enforceability of the remainder of the provision in question and of the remaining provisions of these terms shall be separate and several and construed and enforceable accordingly and shall continue in full force and effect.

The failure of Research Ireland to enforce at any time or for any period any one or more of the terms or conditions of these notices shall not be a waiver of them nor of the right at any time subsequently to enforce all terms and conditions of these notices.

The European Communities (Access to Information on the Environment) Regulations 2007 (S.I. 133 of 2007), gives legal rights to those seeking access to information on the environment from public authorities.

These Regulations came into effect on 1st May 2007, repealing the previous legislative instrument, the European Communities (Access to Information on the Environment) Regulations 1998.  S.I. 662 of 2011, S.I. 615 of 2014 and S.I. 309 of 2018 revised these regulations further.

You have the right have the right to obtain environmental information from Research Ireland under these regulations.

To make a request, we ask that you submit your request by email to info@researchireland.ie or in writing to the AIE Officer, Research Ireland, Three Park Place, Dublin 2.

In your request, we ask that you:

  • Specify that you are making your request under the AIE Regulations and clearly state the environmental information that you are requesting;
  • Please try to provide as much detail as possible to enable us to process your request efficiently; and
  • Your contact details

You will receive your response within one month from the date on which the request is received by Research Ireland.

Should charges be necessary to process your request, a member of staff from Research Ireland will contact you to advise of charges before proceeding.

Please be advised that Public bodies may refuse AIE requests on certain mandatory grounds (personal information/third party information) or discretionary grounds (commercial confidentiality etc).
