Freshwater sources have been degraded and water-based ecosystems destroyed, through mismanagement, abuse, and human-generated pollution, making water dramatically more scarce globally. Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) pose a particularly pressing concern among the numerous contaminants, due to their toxic and persistent nature. A recent analysis of the impact of PFAS exposure on human health in Europe revealed a staggering annual direct healthcare expenditure of €52-84 billion, emphasising the importance of finding effective solutions to this problem.
Our approach aims to transform water remediation by introducing a new approach using a novel ‘one size fits all’ polymer-based filtration technology – PolyFASt. This approach is expected to provide a highly efficient and cost-effective solution to the challenge of PFAS removal in water, leading to a safer and healthier environment for all. Our ambitious approach, which aligns with the diverse expertise of our team, will provide a pathway to the successful development of an adaptable product that has the potential to disrupt the global water remediation market, making Ireland a world leader in clean water and sanitation development.
