Project Summary
SCI:COM is a two day, multi-event all-island science communication conference that began in 2015.
It is run by Whipsmart Media, a communications and events company in partnership with UCD.
As in previous years, the conference will feature keynote speakers, breakout sessions on key issues, skills and capacity building sessions and an exhibition of exemplar science communication programmes. It will continue to innovate in engagement as in previous years.
SCI:COM aims to inspire, engage, and question delegates from the broad science communication spectrum. It has continued to create networking opportunities for the science communication community to meet and has been the crucible for many new collaborations.
Each year, the conference is built around a theme. 2016 was around controversy, 2017 was around collaboration. The theme for 2021 was Adapt. This theme for the next two years will be decided by the board, but will be based on the major issues facing science communication in Ireland. Please note, we are currently reviewing applications to our board to increase diversity and the scope of the conference.
This conference will catalyse action, increase capacity building for public engagement practitioners and inspire researchers to go out and engage on difficult issues.
