Project Summary
LET’S FIND OUT is a STEM audio-visual project for Irish children aged 5 to 8.
At the core of the project is a 20 x 15 min television series, broadcast on the national public service broadcaster’s free-to-air children’s TV channel, RTÉjr, and its streaming service, RTÉ Player.
The TV shows feature factual STEM content presented within a fictional scenario. Aboard a spaceship called the Curiosity, an alien called Zoom (a puppet character) is accompanied by his crew of two real-life scientists, physicist Mark Langtry and neuroscientist Amy Hassett.
At the start of each show, Zoom asks a question about planet earth. Mark and Amy then answer the question using science experiments and demos, and with the help of two curious children, who conduct an experiment of their own. The show concludes with a visit to an exciting location associated with Zoom’s question.
LET’S FIND OUT Season 2 has received the following international accolades:
Award for Scientific Merit at the 2022 SCINEMA International Science Film Festival
Industry Award for Best Educational Media at the 2022 Raw Science Film Festival (RSFF)
Initially, LET’S FIND OUT was primarily a STEM TV series. However, Season 2 saw us expand the project to encompass the provision of classroom supports for primary teachers based on content featured in the show.
With COVID restrictions lifted, live science shows featuring our presenters can once again become part of the LET’S FIND OUT brand.
