Project Summary
Cybersecurity is of critical importance to our society and economy and skills shortages exist both in Ireland and globally. This project will engage a new generation in the field of cybersecurity. The Cyber Security Academy is a unique opportunity for secondary school students to gain practical insight into the technical aspects of cybersecurity, and to practice theiskills that they learn throughout the week on a state-of-the-art cyber range. A cyber range is a platform that allows for simulation of real-life cybersecurity challenges. Career champions are embedded into the program planning, through career talks at the Academy and schools cybersecurity challenge competition and integrated with other more established careers events such as iWISH, Smart Futures and STEM South West. This programme will create a pipeline of future cybersecurity professionals that have an understanding of the personal attributes and technical skills required to pursue a career in cybersecurity.
