Scaling surgical training using data science

Build a world-first surgical Training Quality Platform (TQP) and dashboard. The TQP will utilise hundreds of thousands of data points collected by the College of Surgeons of East, Central, and Southern Africa (COSECSA). Using big data analytic and visualisation techniques, the TQP will inform the creation of focused targets for training hospitals based on evidence of the true drivers of training quality. The TQP will allow for the early identification of training sites that need support in delivering the training programme and will also enable the identification of sites that are centres of excellence for certain specialties or procedures. The TQP will predict training trends and outcomes, thus allowing colleges to target their limited resources more effectively and make informed decisions to drive and scale up surgical and anaesthesiology training.
