Science-backed nutritional meals can now be delivered to your door thanks to a new partnership from NiMe™ Diet and GourmetFuel®. The NiMe Diet is a transformative eating plan created by scientists inspired by the eating habits of non-industrialised societies, which has clinically proven to significantly reduce the risk of a number of chronic diseases.

Microbiome researcher Professor Jens Walter was inspired to create the NiMe™ Diet after spending time with rural communities in Papua New Guinea. Now a Research Ireland Professor at University College Cork and a Principal Investigator at APC Microbiome Ireland, a world-leading Research Ireland Centre, he was interested in the correlation between the low instance of chronic disease in the population and their diet. With his team of scientists, in particular Dr Anissa Armet, he devised a series of delicious recipes which were used in a clinical trial over three weeks which led to significant metabolic and immunological improvements including:

  • Promoted weight loss
  • decreased bad cholesterol by 17%
  • reduced blood sugar by 6%
  • reduced C-reactive Protein (a marker of inflammation and heart disease) by 14%

Determined to make the information beneficial to as many people as possible, Prof. Walter has collaborated with GourmetFuel®, a healthy and delicious home deliver meal service.

Prof Walter says “The collaboration with GourmetFuel® is a game-changer for us scientists as we now have a way for people to benefit directly from our research and improve their health. It could not be easier to experience the NiMe™ Diet with this convenient service offering meals grounded in rigorous science, delivered straight to their homes.”

“We’re proud to be the bridge between ground-breaking nutritional science and the kitchen tables of families across Ireland,” said Rob Buckley, Managing Director at GourmetFuel®. “At GourmetFuel®, everything we do is evidence-based, and this partnership takes that commitment to a new level. The NiMe™ Diet, what it represents and how we bring it to life, is a great step toward bringing top-tier science into everyday eating – where convenience, clinical research and culinary excellence work hand in hand.”

NiMe™ meals at GourmetFuel® used in the original clinical protocol are now available to order in Ireland at www.gourmetfuel.com/NiMe. In addition, a range of NiMe™-inspired meals are also available, allowing consumers to follow the principles of the NiMe Diet with greater variety and convenience.

“We created the NiMe™ Diet to make a difference in people’s everyday lives,” added Dr Anissa Armet, co-creator of the NiMe™ Diet and registered dietitian. “This partnership now allows anyone in Ireland, regardless of time or cooking ability, to benefit from it.”
