Research Ireland is delighted to see the success and impact of research carried out by Profs Jennifer Schweppe and Amanda Haynes at the University of Limerick, as previously IRC funded awardees (New Foundations and COALESCE).
In a new episode of the Research Impact Podcast by the University of Limerick, Professor Jennifer Schweppe, School of Law and the Director of the European Centre for the Study of Hate, and Professor Amanda Haynes, Department of Sociology who co-founded the Centre, discuss their pioneering interdisciplinary work. This important interdisciplinary collaboration combines legal and sociological research to address hate crime in Ireland, engaging directly with victims, influencing policy and informing the Criminal Justice (Hate Offences) Act 2024, Ireland’s first dedicated hate crime legislation.
